Asparagus and Neem Oil

When used in the garden, neem oil works in several different ways:

  • Insecticidal action: Neem oil acts as a natural insecticide that can help in the fight against pests such as asparagus flies and asparagus beetles. Neem oil disrupts the feeding and development of insects, which can reduce their population.
  • Fungicidal action: Neem oil also works as a natural fungicide that can assist in the prevention and treatment of diseases such as gray mold and bacterial blight. Neem oil prevents the development of fungi and bacteria by inhibiting their growth and reproduction.

To use neem oil, dilute it with water according to the packaging instructions and apply it to the leaves and stems of plants using a spray. It's important to apply neem oil early in the morning or late in the evening when the temperature is lower to prevent leaf burns. Neem oil should also be used regularly, every few weeks, to ensure effectiveness.
